Elephant Ride

A blue-grey elephant walks left to right with two children on its back, a girl with a plait in pink and a boy in blue, sitting on a cream blanket edged with dots and a scalloped fringe. The elephant wears a patterned headdress and bands on its legs and trunk. Around them, cream stars and small pink and blue flowers on a wall of pink plaster with blue showing through the chips.

The nursery piece of the series, and the gentlest. The palette was kept to pink, cream and one blue so that it sits quietly in a child's room rather than shouting in it.

Print: every print is on matte paper with no shine. Archival matte is a 250 gsm off-white paper printed in four colours; fine art matte is a 200 gsm paper printed in twelve colours for smoother tones and deeper darks. A white border is printed around the artwork where the paper's proportions differ from the picture.

It is a print, not a painting: the surface is smooth and flat. Any brush or knife texture you see is part of the picture, not something you can feel.

Framed print: the same print in a wooden frame in black, white, light brown wood or dark brown wood, behind shatterproof plexiglass. Ready to hang, with the hanging kit included. There is no separate card mount; the printed white border does that job.
