The story

Made here, said plainly.

A studio of one, in London. My ideas, AI image tools, and a printer in the UK that makes each piece to order.

Lantern Bearer, Chalk
01 · The idea

It starts with a picture in my head.

Some pieces start as a rough pencil sketch on paper, just to get the idea down. Others start as a picture in my imagination: who is riding, what they are carrying, the colour of the wall, the time of day. The long legs on the Folk Riders, the lantern on its thin pole, the crescent moons on every flank, those are choices made before anything is generated.

Some ideas come out in more than one version. The three Lantern Bearers are the same picture at dusk, at night and in the morning, and they are sold as exactly that.

02 · The development

Where the AI tools come in.

Some pieces start as a rough pencil sketch on paper, just to get the idea down. Others start as an idea from my imagination. Either way, I then use AI image tools to bring in the colour, light and detail and make the picture come to life. What you receive is a print on matte paper with no shine: it is a print, not a painting, so the surface is smooth and flat, with no paint texture. I say this on every page so you know exactly what you are buying.

In practice: the sketch or the idea goes in, I describe the colour and the light I want, and the tool produces versions. Most are rejected. I change the description and go again until one is right, then check it at full size before it is printed. No artist's name is ever used to make an image, and nothing on this site copies another artist's work.

I say all of this plainly because the alternative is to let you guess, and you deserve to know what you are paying for.

03 · The print

Made in the UK, to order, numbered.

Every print is made to order by Gelato (United Kingdom) on matte paper with no shine: 250 gsm archival matte, or 200 gsm fine art matte printed in twelve colours. It is a print, not a painting, so the surface is smooth and flat. Framed prints come in a wooden frame with shatterproof plexiglass, ready to hang. Nothing is printed until you order it, so nothing sits in a warehouse.

Each piece is a numbered edition of 50 across all sizes and formats. When the fifty are gone, the piece is retired. Your number is recorded on a certificate of authenticity that you can check on this site at any time.

The person

Nikunjkumar Savaliya

I moved to London from India in 2025 and trained as a food scientist, which is a long way of saying I like knowing how things are made and I do not like shortcuts. This studio is the other half of my week. I have sketched for years; the pieces here are made a different way, with AI image tools, and I say so on every page.

The Folk Riders borrow the look of old painted walls: flat colour, cracked plaster, cream moons. The Lantern Studies take the same riders and ask what they would look like if they were real. The Riding Portraits borrow the look of thick equestrian painting. Three ways of looking at a person on an animal, all from the same studio.

If you want something that does not exist yet, commission it. Your idea, made the same way from start to finish.
