About this piece
A man in a black riding coat, white stock and white gloves, seated square on a black and white piebald horse with a long cream mane, on an ochre ground. The picture has the look of paint laid on with a palette knife, thick enough to cast its own shadows: the mane, the coat and the horse's blaze all look raised. The print itself is flat. He looks ahead, not at you.
One of a pair. Made to look heavily painted on purpose, so the texture reads from across a room, even though the print itself is smooth.
Materials and printing
Print: every print is on matte paper with no shine. Archival matte is a 250 gsm off-white paper printed in four colours; fine art matte is a 200 gsm paper printed in twelve colours for smoother tones and deeper darks. A white border is printed around the artwork where the paper's proportions differ from the picture.
It is a print, not a painting: the surface is smooth and flat. Any brush or knife texture you see is part of the picture, not something you can feel.
Framed print: the same print in a wooden frame in black, white, light brown wood or dark brown wood, behind shatterproof plexiglass. Ready to hang, with the hanging kit included. There is no separate card mount; the printed white border does that job.

How it was made
Some pieces start as a rough pencil sketch on paper, just to get the idea down. Others start as an idea from my imagination. Either way, I then use AI image tools to bring in the colour, light and detail and make the picture come to life. What you receive is a print on matte paper with no shine: it is a print, not a painting, so the surface is smooth and flat, with no paint texture. I say this on every page so you know exactly what you are buying.
This piece: my own idea, brought to life with AI image tools, printed on matte paper to order in the UK. The full process.
